I checked out the thread (a few pages down) where someone was reporting a cant connect to server problem with an email account. The issue is marked as resolved but there is no mention of the solution. And Im having the same problem...
With only one of my email accounts I cannot receive messages and get that error. With my Touch there is no problem and Im not making a mistake with the password or settings. Just the new iPad cannot connect. Comparing the settings between the Touch and iPad the only difference I see is that with the Touch its set up as a POP account and on the iPad its an IMAP account. I do not see any way to make it a POP account and wonder if this could be the problem.
Can someone here be of help?

More than likely, this is the problem. With a POP account, only one email client can communicate with the incoming mail server at a time - checking the incoming mail server for new messages and/or download new messages received at the incoming mail server.
Who is the email account provider for the account? An IMAP account is specifically designed to be accessed with more than one email client. Although it is possible to access a POP account with more than one email client, a POP account is designed to be accessed with a single email client only. Assessing an account as a POP account with one email client and as an IMAP with another can lead to problems.

Yes that is most likely the problem. Delete the IMAP account you created, then make a new account and configure it as a POP account.
In Settings tap on Mail, Contacts, Calendars. Tap on Other. Tap on Add Mail Account. Fill in your account info and tap on Save. Tap on the POP button and continue the configuration. Save the info. You should now have a configured POP account.

Thanks very much Kappy! That did the trick!
I didnt realize that Id made a mistake in setting the account up (IMAP instead of POP) and when I could see only the IMAP and no way to change it, I thought that might be all that was supported. Deleting the account and starting over (more carefully) allowed the proper choice and all is working now.
