OK, Ive got the dreaded one or more of the addresses was rejected by the server. Ive done everything in the support article, and have even deleted my email account on my iPad and re entered it.
All was working fine when I got my iPad on the 28th, but yesterday all suddenly stops working...
Has anyone any further suggestions?

Does this happen with single address emails each to different addressees?
My PC does this when Comcast finds an address for a blacklisted server.

This happens for any recipient email, including my own college account and my forwarded email service

I performed a complete and utter erase and reset then a restore from my backup.
Email is now working again.
I think something gets screwed up if theres a connection error from a POP server. iPad seems to suffer from the opposite of amnesia - it simply cant forget that things went wrong so it barfs every time.
Ill be sending some feedback

Going to the outbox does not work, as the outbox is not always accessible. I, too, had the same problem. Turns out it is the cause of the ISP, particularly if using 3G. I actually took my ipad back and got a refund, as I feel that an expensive toy should not have these issues. The geek at the store knew about the issue.
Here is another solution, so try this...
The configuration and use of any outgoing server address (SMTP) may not be supported due to several factors including, but not limited to, the inability for the outgoing server (SMTP) to authenticate users (whether by IP or username/password) that are not directly connected to that Internet Service Providers(ISPs) network.
This is usually your HOME wi-fi and you are not connected to it because you are on your iPad away from the house. This is mainly done to prevent unsolicited users from sending SPAM via the ISPs servers.
If you are interested you can obtain that information directly from the email provider. This article has a great temple that you can use to ask all necessary information from the provider including If you use your ISP’s own email service (instead of a third-party such as Gmail), sometimes it may not work if you use another Internet access point, such as a cafe with wireless Internet. Ask your email provider if the settings they give you will work on other networks.
