how to clear individual ipad history

When I go to Settings on my ipad, and select Safari, then clear history, when I open Safari, the history is still there using the back buttons. Anyone know how to actually clear the history? IMac7,1 Intel Core 2 Duo, 2GHz Mac OS X (10.5.5)...|ipad-safari-clear-history-function

I clear my history on Safari but I found the history doesnt really clear if i have other open windows in safari. Everything in the history bar disappears but when you type in URL in a new window, it will predict from a history that should be erased. I do have a workaround.....I have to close all safari windows, clear history, and that gets everything. I would like to not have to close all windows. There are apps for locking individual apps if ipad is jail broken, but I don't want to have to jail brake my ipad. I am trying to protect my grand kids for going to bad web sites.  I can hide Safari, Utube, but not other web browsers that I have down loaded.  I don't want to have to delete these and then reload them. Or rather, it clears out the list, but the user can still use the back button in Safari get to the previously visited sites. After having my ipad for a while now, there are two things occurring as of recent: at times while browsing safari, the browsing will just close and return to the home screen of the ipad. Also the browsing history has started deleting at times, at least I think. Hello,I know that I can see my purchase history in iTunes on my laptop but often Im moving around with my ipad and would like to buy something.
