Help everyone. I experienced my first crash on iPad 3 running iOS 5.1.1. The screen suddenly went black and it just started again with that white apple logo.
I was trying to find out what happened and went to the diagnostics section. I found three logs with panic.plist. I went inside and checked and saw that there was nothing much written but a 'CRC ERR!' at the bottom. I've read in other forums that I can send it for replacement but I do not have the receipt as I bought it from school. I only have an AppleCare warranty, unregistered, as my 1 year warranty for iPad is not up yet. What can or should I do? Thanks for any help. It is greatly appreciated.
its normal for devices to crash from time to time. It doesn't mean the iPad has any issues now. Just that something went wrong at that point and it had to restart itself.
If it starts to crash very often then you may need to reset it to factory state to reload the OS clean, but other than that it should be o.k.
You can setup an appointment at a Genius Bar at your local Apple Retail store, and have it looked at, but they'll probably tell you, unless it is compeltely dead and won't come back on, that it is o.k. If it is totally dead and under warranty, they will replace it for you.
All in all a single crash is not something you should be too worried about.
